Established in 1942. Original name - Great Northern Credit Union Association.
Formed by employees of the Great Northern Railroad with shares (savings) and loans.
January 1971 the GNCU became the BNCU (Burlington Northern Credit Union) when the two railroads merged.
In 1989 the name was changed to Bear Paw Credit Union to better reflect the credit union's growing diversity of membership.
In May of 1996 we merged with North Montana Federal Credit Union.
In October of 1998 we merged with Toole County Federal Credit Union. Our Field of Membership includes - Hill, Blaine, Liberty, Chouteau, Toole, Pondera, and Phillips Counties plus BNSF Employees and their families.
The main office located in Havre. Other locations include Chester, Chinook, Shelby & Sunburst

We are a not-for-profit cooperative where the member is the owner. Profits are returned to the members in the form of lower rates and higher dividends.
